The new Windows Millennium adds a lot more to the consumer edition of Windows than meets the eye...
As a note, Windows 2000 is for business applications and is not a consumer edition of Windows. Hence, Windows Millennium Edition.

Under the hood, Windows ME the successor to Windows 98 SE comes built in with a Windows 2000 based TCP/IP Networking stack and about 9 million more lines of code. These new instructions speed up your Internet communications, all Networking communications, and over all home Windows experience.

Beyond the obvious newer is better, Windows ME comes with the integrated Media Player 7, for music, video, and more, IE v5.5...AND the new Movie Maker. Critical File protection prevents mandantory system files from being overwritten or replaced (this too is a Windows 2000 Feature), and the new System Restore feature can revert your system back to normal just in case.

Built in help is easier and largely internet based giving you access to a plethera of information specific to your particular computers architechture. The Windows Update feature will help you get the latest upgrades with an ease of use interface and automatic notification should you choose to receive them.

All in all, Windows ME is a huge step above Windows 98 SE, and should be a must for all computer enthusiasts who use Windows 9x. You can easily upgrade from 98, or start from scratch with the full version. Whichever way you choose, be sure to get Windows ME for an overall better, faster, more intuitive Computer experience.

Windows ME is in stores today September 14, 2000.
