Microsoft Nearing Antitrust Appeal
02/03/2001 12:22:00 AM MST Albuquerque, Nm
By Dustin D. Brand; Owner AMO

Microsoft to meet Feb, 26, and 27th.
Microsoft appealed last years ruling that is was a Monopoly and was to be broken into 2 companies, 1 for the Operating System Windows, and 1 for their other Software like Internet Explorer.

Judge Jackson, whom made the ruling last year, has been quite outspoken about Microsoft and out of court has made harsh comments comparing Bill Gates to Napolean. Well Microsoft plans to use this to argue that Judge Jackson showed animus against Microsoft.

Microsoft and the United States Justice Department will appear before the US Court of Appeals in Washington to offer their oral arguments on Feb. 26, and 27th. The bulk of the argument time which is 4 and a half hours over the 2 days will be spent on whether Microsoft used anti-competitive practices.

The court has the option to accept, reject or modify the oral argument schedule that was submitted jointly by Microsoft and Justice Department officials.

Microsoft has defended itself vigorously, and in my opinion is innocent. There are however other companies that I do not feel are innocent.
